Though it is summer time, the sun is on the top but still, we planned a trip because how can we miss the beauty of TAJ…Yes!! You are correct we went to AGRA.

Agra, home to iconic TAJ MAHAL, a city on the bank of river Yamuna and amongst the most populated cities of Uttar Pradesh. Agra is a major tourist destination because of its many Mughal-era buildings, most notably the Tāj Mahal, Agra Fort and Fatehpūr Sikrī, all of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Agra is included on the Golden Triangle tourist circuit, along with Delhi and Jaipur; and the Uttar Pradesh Heritage Arc, tourist circuit of UP state, along Lucknow and Varanasi. Agra falls within the Braj cultural region.

We started our trip on 2nd May and had reached Agra by 4 pm in the evening, it was a 4-hour journey and we checked into the OBEROI AMARVILAS. The hotel Oberoi Amarvilas enjoys an unrivaled position amongst luxury hotels in Agra, located just 600 meters from the iconic Taj Mahal. Each of the room affords an uninterrupted view of this ancient monument to love, while elements of the layout and design pay homage to its Mughal Splendour.

As the month of may is going and it is freakingly hot outside we decided to jump into the pool and order some snacks by the poolside itself. Did you ever tried swimming after sunset…if not ..YOU MUST TRY IT!! It’s the time when you feel completely relaxed as it is a totally magnificent pool that can rejuvenate you after a hustle bustle life. After a relaxed time, we preferred steeping out of the pool and explore the beautiful hotel as it was so beautiful and difficult to leave. This beauty had a bonus of TAJ view as I have mentioned it before, So we have decided to spend out quality time over there. You people must have read about the story and history behind this marvelous taj, still, I thought to brief you out. THE TAJ was commissioned by Shah Jahan in 1631, to be built in the memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal, a Persian princess who died giving birth to their 14th child, Gauhara Begum. Construction of the Taj Mahal began in 1632. The imperial court documenting Shah Jahan’s grief after the death of Mumtaz Mahal illustrate the love story held as the inspiration for Taj Mahal. The principal mausoleum was completed in 1643 and the surrounding buildings and garden were finished about five years later.

At night, they can savor a candlelit dinner besides. They offer a range of specially curated Oberoi Experiences designed specifically for our luxury resort in Agra and this majestic Mughal city. They usually play some soothing music in the evening to make the night more light and romantic, where each and every guest can enjoy the beautiful musical night. We had already snacked heavy, so decided to take the dinner light that too in the room by enjoying the beautiful taj view. When we came back to the room, my darling husband already planned something romantic for me. A beautiful decoration and a fine dinner over drinks which was a cherry on the cake. I must tell you, the time we had visited Agra was the Moonlight and at night the taj view was breathtaking in the full moonlight. The rest of the evening was spent by mesmerizing the beauty and the work done and praising it. Oops, I forgot to tell you about our room!! We had stayed in KOHINOOR SUITE..the best room for the taj view; from the richly furnished living room, whose large windows open onto a private terrace; the master bedroom, replete with king size bed facing the Taj Mahal; the eight-seater dining room; the bathtub and glass panelled rain shower, which also opens onto the terrace. I know it sounds amazing, but I must tell you I was so amazing and wonderful.

Before going to the bed I have asked my husband, bobby to take me to TAJMAHAL at 6 am in the morning to enjoy the taj beauty in peace and just my time. So we woke sharply at 6(basically to avoid the heat and crowd). Let me tell you the hotel provides the shuttle service till Tajmahal ticket counter. And we had to reach the counter, where they provide thin sheet bag for the shoes to maintain cleanliness. It is optional to take a guide and we took one and a photographer to make the taj more memorable. Few things are once in the lifetime so we should make the best use of it. The guide told us the complete history behind the taj and was with us till the end describing and narrating stories behind everything.

On our way back to the hotel we found the Panchi Peetha wala (Beware of the fake petha wala these days), this shop is the oldest and the most famous peetha shop serving a variety of peethas. It is the most authentic one, so we decided to get three packets packed for home. We came back to the hotel and was so hungry, we first went for the breakfast

After breakfast, we went on a hotel tour, the hotel is approached along a sweeping driveway, verdant with native trees and lit of flaming torches. Inside it, a Mughal style quadrant is ornamented with cascading foundations and framed by an arched passageway and gold leaf frescoes, and this type of architecture is being maintained by them in all their chains.

After the tour, our Spa was ready and that is all you want in the summers. I was so excited. Our guide from resort took us to the Spa. the Oberoi Spa offers a wide range of signature Oberoi, Eastern and Western massage treatments that will relax, revitalize and rejuvenate the mind, body, and spirit. You can experience restored wellness with Ayurveda, or select one of our carefully designed beauty therapies for skin nourishment and radiance. It is inspired by Mughal architecture and tiled in dark sandstone and white marble. At the center sits a dome-roofed, white marble steam room. Couples’ massage rooms on the fourth floor have uninterrupted views of the Taj Mahal. And we had Body Envelopment( Scrub and Wrap) they have determined your skin type, the therapist will recommend one of the following scrubs for a full body exfoliation. After this, the therapist will apply a nourishing masque, and cocoon the guest in a heat-inducing wrap to facilitate natural detoxification and skin firming. The duration of SPA is 60 minutes.

• Moor Mud
• Red mud
• Indian sandalwood
It was like a booster and I felt so rejuvenated. We never miss a couple spa in Hotel & Resorts. I have to admit the process they do is never experience at other salons and spa centers. After Salon, we went poolside. Amarvilas has a specialty pool, to avoid the heat they also got one under roof pool and you can relax over there. I took one traveler magazine and spend the next few hours there. Loungers are similarly placed for guests to soak up the sun, take some shade under a parasol, or enjoy the cool of our Mughal inspired relaxation area. The length of the pool is 80 ft (24m). The hotel also provides with the fitness facility with is located in the spa itself with treadmills, cross-trainers, exercycles, free weights, a rowing machine and a multi-gym.

We had only two days, so we have decided to explore the local in the night. And I had read somewhere that Agra is one of the best sellers of leather in Asia, and the main Sadar Bazar got many shops of leather where you can get stuff a reasonable price. The timings are preferable (till 11 pm) so you can go in the night time when the weather is also calm and pleasant. I had shop much footwear from Sadar Bazar. One tip from my side, You can bargain if you find the rate costly.
After a good shopping therapy, we came back and one another surprise was waiting for us, DINE UNDER THE STARS, where you can Experience an unforgettable star-lit dinner beside the cascading water bodies that enchant our private poolside pavilions. Enjoy romantic views of the fantastic, Mughal-inspired hotel and exquisitely landscaped gardens. Savor a bespoke four-course menu, served by your personal butler at a white linen table for two.
To complement this unique setting, I recommend you try the Royal Indian thali. This can be specially crafted by their master chefs to suit your taste and dietary restrictions. You may also choose from the delicacies offered on our international restaurant menus, or consult our chef and design a bespoke menu.

An Oberoi experience is what memories are made of, with the best hospitality on the top.

Later we spent some time in the garden area and pool and after that, we went to sleep.
Next day we had to leave.
We woke up late and had a great breakfast and then left for Jaipur.

Thanks, Amarvilas for a great hospitality

Stay in Oberoi Hotels & Resorts in Agra was an unforgettable experience.
